Last week, we had to say goodbye (or at least see ya later) to some dear friends, Christy and Jay, who are in the process of moving to New Orleans. Hey, at least it's a place we'd love to visit! Their oldest child, Matthew, is Austin's age. Those two have so much in common, mostly their love of Jesus and all things Star Wars. We've spent many hours together since we met two and a half years ago. While the kids were in 4K and 5K, we got together at Chick-fil-A every Thursday for the kids to play. There were usually four of us there: me, Christy, and our friends Shelia and Audie. While the kids were playing, we were able to have an actual adult conversation. We all enjoyed each other's company so much that we started a supper club. When we got together for supper, we were very pleased that our husbands hit it off as well as we had. We're very lucky that we really get along well with the parents of our kids' friends. It works out very well for us
and the kids. The supper club group enjoyed a nice adults-only dinner to toast Christy and Jay before the big move. Two very brave young ladies watched all 10 of our children. We had a wonderful time, as always, and the kids did too! The kids looked like zombies when we got back.
When Daddy was in the hospital last year, Christy checked in with me almost daily to see how he (and I) was doing. She picked Austin up from school for playdates while I was at the hospital more times than I can count. All while she was pregnant with a toddler to take care of! Christy, Jay, Matthew, Daniel, and Hannah, we'll miss you more than you know! Over dinner, we were already discussing getting together sometime next year for a weekend visit. I really hope we can make that happen!
